Recording Rules for Anson County
North Carolina uses a race to record system for deed records. Under the Conner Act, G.S. 47-18, the first party to record a deed at the Anson County Register of Deeds has legal priority. This rule applies to deeds, contracts to convey, options, and leases of more than three years.
Documents must meet the format standards in G.S. 161-14. They must be on standard-size white paper, printed in black ink with a minimum 9-point font. The first page needs a three-inch top margin. Documents must name the drafter on the first page if executed after January 1, 1980.
